why i liked today

-I had a ridiculous English test today. My fingers cramp up (again) thinking about it. So that wasn’t good. I just wanted to complain. -In French I had a loud argument over the Penguins being better than the Capitals. And then my teacher wanted us back on task and was like well what really great player had a French last name? And then I was like Lemieux. And then everyone else was like “lolz no Gretsky you fool.” And then I was like “No, cause Lemieux is actually a French name and it means ‘the best.’” And then we were talking greatest player ever and I defended Lemieux over Gretsky, cause everyone else was like “lolz Gretsky is da man.” So I pulled the “Lemieux’s career could’ve been eighty times better if he hadn’t had so many health problems like, um, cancer” card. And then everyone agreed with me. …I don’t really think all of that madness is a reason I liked today either. -I had meatballs for dinner. -In history we got to make fun posters. -The lock I got for my gym locker is purple. -Whatever. Now that I think about it, today kind of sucked.

why i liked today

-The Penguins were on TV. Again! It went into overtime. And then to a shootout. I love love love love shootouts. I just do. But it was Curry’s first NHL shootout so I was pretty nervous. And rightfully so, because he didn’t do so hot and we lost. 3-2. I have to keep reminding myself it’s pre-season and this is practice.

I hate when we lose.

-Red Wings lost to Philadelphia. 5-2. I don’t like either of those teams. It’s a win that Wings lost but a lose that the Flyers won… if that makes sense.

-My French test about leisure activities was way easier than I expected. I feel good about it.

-I wore my new Toms shoes for the first time today and countless girls told me they were weird looking. My friend added that they had character, which is true. Guys, on the other hand, said they were cool.

Whatever.

-I had like zero homework again. Score. Except for an easy essay.

-My piano teacher said I was doing very well and she gave me this rad song to learn for the festival thingy I do every March.

-I can’t think of anything else right now. But today was a good day, I think.

why i like today

  • I left my hair just plain and straight and it didn’t frizz. This defies the laws of science.
  • I talked to the cute guy in my English class more than usual.
  • The water main at school got too hot or something and it made the fire alarm go off at 2:17, three minutes before school ends. I actually didn’t like this all too much but it’s pretty funny and provided for some lame jokes.

Stafford: Can we open the back emergency door? It’s hot as hell on this bus.

Bus driver: No, it sets off an alarm.

Me: But we can just blame that on the water main!

  • The Penguins are playing Montreal tonight and it’s gonna be on TV. It’s still pre-season so yeah, the game doesn’t count, but I get to watch it for once and it’s gonna be exciting.
  • I barely have any homework. That’s pretty rad for a Monday. I technically have to study but I don’t count that because I can study during the two intermissions in the hockey game.
  • My mom is making her delicious Cajun potato salad. Enough said.
